Friend,

Last year alone, Richmond police received reports of over 350 stolen firearms -- and seized even more illegal guns that were never reported.

Stolen firearms are incredibly dangerous and an enormous threat to public safety, yet the Virginia General Assembly is failing to take constructive action to get them off our streets.

Mayor Stoney won’t just sit on the sidelines and wait for action from the General Assembly that may never come. So next week, he’s taking matters into his own hands and pitching harsher penalties for failing to report stolen firearms to the Richmond City Council.

Deaths from unreported, stolen firearms are both tragic and avoidable. Add your name today to support Mayor Stoney’s harsher penalties for failing to take action to prevent these public safety threats >> [link removed]

It’s unfortunate, but it’s true: the trafficking of stolen firearms leads to a higher crime rate and more violence in Richmond.

There are simple steps we can all take to help keep our community safer, like reporting any stolen firearms that you become aware of. Mayor Stoney’s proposals would help everyone in Richmond become a more responsible citizen and create safer communities for all of us.

It’s time for action: sign the petition to stand with Mayor Stoney’s proposals to reduce stolen firearms in Richmond >> [link removed]

Thanks,

Team Stoney
