Friend,

Although it was decades ago, I can still remember the long summer days here in Connecticut, our kids playing outside for hours. When it was time to come inside, my wife and I always made sure to check for ticks. Being careful to prevent Lyme disease is even more important now – this year's crop of ticks is worse than it's ever been.

While Connecticut has long been an epicenter of this critical public health issue, ticks are being found just about everywhere nowadays – in city parks of large urban areas, beaches of northern coastal communities, anywhere that's warm – and their spread has intensified with the climate crisis.

The people of Connecticut know just how serious and debilitating the symptoms of Lyme disease can be – and that it's going to take more than tucking in our socks and checking for tick bites to solve the problem. That's why I'm calling on Congress to fund research for prevention and treatment of Lyme disease.

With tick-borne illnesses like Lyme disease on the rise, will you sign my petition now to urge Congress to help stop Lyme disease?

The outbreaks of ticks in Connecticut and across the country pose a serious health risk – and I encourage you to take extra precautions as we enter the summer season, Friend.

But sadly, tick-borne diseases are becoming more prevalent. Lyme disease must be a research priority and, just like other debilitating diseases, needs Congressional focus and support. I need you to help me voice urgent concern right now.

I need 1,000 signatures before midnight tonight, so please sign my petition urging Congress to help stop the spread of Lyme disease.

Thank you,

Dick
