You probably remember that my home state, Georgia, was the site of mass GOP voter suppression in 2018.

Now -- going into 2020 -- there’s evidence that Republicans will have help in silencing the voices of millions of Americans from foreign actors.

The fight against voter suppression is a battle for the soul of our democracy. And it’s a battle I’m hoping to win by installing paper ballots, passing legislation to make Election Day a national holiday, and resisting the harmful effects of gerrymandering.

100 years ago, I wouldn’t have been allowed to vote, let alone run for office. Being able to cast my ballot is a sacred right, and it’s one that I take really seriously.

I want to be a voice for those among us who were turned away at the ballot box in 2018 because of right-wing forces who want us to go back to the days where only a select few could vote.
