It’s been a few days since the Manhattan DA’s race, and we wanted to take
a second to unpack some of what we learned.

But first, we wanted to THANK YOU,
John.

It’s true that Tahanie Aboushi didn’t win her election. But she ran a
fearless campaign. One that was powered by thousands of grassroots donors
from all over the country. We’re so grateful for all that you did to
support her.

We also learned that our opposition is, unfortunately, still as strong as
ever. Well-funded police unions and right-wing groups came back with a
vengeance and nearly succeeded in placing a Wall Street billionaire into
office.

It’s crystal clear that we need to double down on our organizing work in
order to elect change-makers to office (and defend them from right wing
attacks once they get there).

What we see time and time again is that in places where Real Justice
candidates won, it’s because they (and YOU) were able to out-organize and
out-campaign their opponents. And as a result, can now use their new
positions to shut down police violence in communities around the country.

But in the places where our candidates lost, the key difference maker was
that they were HEAVILY outspent.

That’s what makes these fundraising deadlines so critical: it allows us to
devote tons of our own organizing time and power to help candidates
compete with massive police unions and super PACs.

That’s why we need you to pitch in before our end-of-quarter deadline on
June 30th. It could spell the difference between winning and losing for
future DA candidates.
