** CELEBRATING LGBTQ PRIDE MONTH
------------------------------------------------------------

** How Philanthropy Has Shaped the Modern LGBTQ Rights Movement
------------------------------------------------------------
In a period of a little more than 50 years, LGBTQ rights have made tremendous strides forward. But while this once invisible demographic has become more mainstream in our culture, those hard-won civil liberties are under fire and there remain extremely vulnerable populations within this demographic that need a helping hand. Philanthropies involved in these issues have had an indelible influence on how the needle has moved.

So, as LGBTQ Pride Month winds down, PEAK has curated a reading list that explores the current relationship between this community and funding institutions and inspires continued progress toward equity for all.

Giving USA 2021: The Annual Report on Philanthropy for the Year 2020, Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy

“Nonprofits in the U.S. emerged from the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic better than feared, thanks to what we now know was record charitable giving as well as the lifeline provided by the federal government through the Payment Protection Program (PPP). The American public and policymakers alike should take the lessons of 2020 to heart and continue to support the vast and diverse array of nonprofits in the U.S. that strengthen our communities and change lives for the better.” [more] ([link removed])
