Tell Congress:
“As one of the wealthiest nations in the world, the U.S. can and should provide paid family and medical leave to all of its workers. The U.S. is a longstanding outlier among wealthy countries who have already provided this basic need. It’s time for Congress to act and pass comprehensive paid family and medical leave now.”

John,
Did you know that only 21% of workers have access to paid family leave provided by their employer?[1]
The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare this and other major gaps in our economy and healthcare system that have led to worse outcomes for working people and families. We can afford basic protections for workers when corporations start paying their fair share in taxes.
Join Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund and our national allies in demanding Congress pass paid leave for millions of working people. Click here to write to your members of Congress today.
The American Rescue Plan, signed into law by President Biden in March, provides employers with the ability to offer paid leave to their employees, but this federal funding only lasts one year.[2] Right now there are two plans in Washington, DC to make paid family and medical leave a reality for millions in the U.S., including one from President Biden.
Both plans would offer at least 80% of average pay for America’s lower-wage workers. Both plans guarantee 12 weeks of paid leave for working people to spend time with sick children, recover from an illness or care for family members.[3]
President Biden’s American Families Plan would provide $225 billion in support over the next 10 years to provide families with paid family and medical leave.[4] His tax plan would pay for this and other critical support for families and communities by requiring the rich and corporations to start paying their fair share of taxes. No one making under $400,000 a year would pay more in taxes.[5]
More than 80% of voters support paid family and medical leave.[6] And yet, the U.S. continues to be an outlier among wealthy countries by not offering a national paid leave plan.
Click here to write to your members of Congress, calling for the immediate passage of paid family and medical leave to support millions of working people and families.
Together, we’re demanding investments in our future to lift up millions of working people, paid for when the rich and corporations start paying their fair share.
Thank you,
Frank Clemente
