Friend,
The last year has been one of the most challenging we’ve ever faced, but it’s in times like these that I am so grateful you are by our side.
For the more than 79 million people currently displaced by conflict, persecution, natural disasters, and other life-threatening circumstances, access to our care has never been more crucial. Early last week, I reached out to this global community and asked you to stand with refugees by making a matched gift. The response has been nothing short of amazing.
Thanks to the support of this generous community, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams on the ground can continue to provide lifesaving care to forcibly displaced people, and essential health services to the people who need it most in more than 70 countries around the world.
For us, World Refugee Day is every day. The foundational promise of MSF is that we provide care to the most vulnerable people wherever they are—even in the face of a pandemic. Here’s a glimpse of the kind of work we are able to accomplish with your help:
In Democratic Republic of Congo, where hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced by the eruption of Mount Nyiragongo, we're providing drinking water, cholera treatment and prevention, access to hygiene and sanitation facilities, and support for health centers.
In the Greek Islands, we continue to provide medical care, including mental health care, sexual and reproductive health care, vaccinations, as well as social and legal support to people living in refugee camps.
In Panama, we're providing medical and mental health services in small towns and migrant reception centers following a surge in migrants crossing through the treacherous Darien Gap from Colombia.
On behalf of our teams on the ground and the communities we serve: Thank you for your support, Friend.
Sincerely,
Mary Taylor
