Here’s what you need to know about TIES 2021 Who: You’re invited! TIES is designed to meet the interests and needs of transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming people of all ages as well as partners, family members, service providers, and allies. All are welcome, so register here today! What: TIES is a *free* conference offering workshops, trans-affirming mental health and medical consultations, a name and gender marker change clinic, social events, and opportunities to connect and build community! As always, we are especially focused on creating a space that is welcoming, anti-racist, and accessible as we honor the diversity of our entire community. TIES will have interpretation in English and Spanish. Learn more about TIES on our English web page and Spanish web page. When: Wednesday, October 20 to Saturday, October 23, 2021 Where: All online. Participants will be able to attend events on Zoom and interact with fellow community members on our engaging conference app, called Whova. Why: In the seven years since TIES first began, we've found that a shared sense of community is the most important part of the conference. We've made new friends, reconnected with old ones, and learned more about ourselves and each other. In a digital format, there are new and exciting ways for people from around Virginia to connect, without the need to travel to Richmond. How: In April, we launched the TIES Planning & Equity Committee so community members could be directly involved with planning the conference! To honor our commitment to anti-racism, the committee is a space specifically for Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern and North African people and Spanish speakers of all backgrounds to make decisions about the direction, programming, and focus of TIES 2021. Thank you to our dedicated planning participants, and thank you to Virginia Pride for ensuring we can pay participants a stipend for their contributions. |
