The time to build a massive wave of constituent pressure for democracy reform is now Indivisibles,
We’ll keep this one short -- with GOP senators filibustering the For the People Act just three days ago, and the Senate on recess in their home states for two weeks, now is the time to build a massive wave of constituent pressure for democracy reform.
When the Senate returns, they’ll have only a few weeks to eliminate the filibuster and pass S. 1 to get it on the books in time for next year’s midterms. So we’re organizing around a Deadline for Democracy: We must get all this done by the end of July.
Activists have already planned over 120 events in 33 states and D.C. during this recess, and it’s crucial that as many people show up in their communities as possible. So we’re asking you to do two things to have a big impact on this mobilization:
- First, go find your nearest Deadline for Democracy event on our website and sign up to attend (and bring a friend if you can!). If there’s no event nearby right now, make sure to keep checking throughout recess -- we’re adding new events everyday. Or sign up for one of our national virtual phonebanks on Tuesday, June 29 or Wednesday, July 7.
- Then, support all the work we’re doing by setting up a $5 recurring donation to Indivisible. Between recruitment and ads, event merchandise, expert policy guidance, organizer support, and more, we’re planning to spend over $505,000 to make this recess happen -- and no matter how this fight pans out, we need to be ready to keep pushing for democracy reform for as long as it takes.

Ever since we published our new guide for this trifecta scenario six months ago, we’ve been gearing up for a situation exactly like this -- Republicans bait Dems into bad-faith “compromise” deals, only to tank the whole bill at the end of the process anyway. It’s our job to ensure that Democrats stand strong and that every single senator recognizes the vital importance of democracy reform for the integrity of our government. We’re getting started in just a few days: help us make it happen.
In solidarity, Indivisible Team
