For many businesses, vans are essential to deliver high quality services - it wouldn't be practical to walk or cycle instead.
That's why the City Council is offering fully funded trials through the Electric Van Experience, offering organisations the chance to try a range of vans giving them confidence to invest in cleaner vehicles in the future, that will result in lower carbon emissions on our roads
A test drive with a difference - our Electric Van Experience offers local organisations the opportunity to try an electric van for 30 days to experience first-hand the financial and environmental benefits of greener vehicles, and provide operational confidence to make a permanent switch.
Abi Morrison, Client Manager at Page One Media said, "The trial has been a great way to gain some real knowledge about the practicalities of an EV, in particular around range and advantages. It's helped to overcome the doubts we had, and built enthusiasm in the staff on the back of the driving experience."
Since the scheme launched, dozens of businesses have taken part across a range of industries from trade to retail and estate agents. Find out more and see if your business or organisation could be eligible.
New Broad Marsh Car Park set to be an electric record-breaker
With the long-awaited reopening of Broad Marsh Car Park and Bus Station on course for the autumn, Nottingham City Council can reveal the new building will host the largest number of electric vehicle charge points in one location in the whole of the UK.
Work to install the 81 charge points – including in Blue Badge disabled parking bays – is nearing completion, along with a host of other smart technology that will make customer journeys easier and significantly reduce the site’s carbon footprint.
Councillor Sally Longford, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Energy and Environment, said: “Today is Clean Air Day, and what better day to mark the latest in a history of pioneering initiatives we’ve taken to improve air quality for everyone who lives and works in or visits the city.

With Lockdown restrictions easing up, now is the perfect time to look at Nottingham's car club as a way of accessing a vehicle without the costs of ownership.
The fleet includes a number of fully electric vehicles available across the city with new locations planned in the future.
Operated by Enterprise Car Club, the scheme is supported by REMOURBAN and ties in with Nottingham City Council’s transport and sustainable objectives that are set out within the Nottingham Growth Plan, Sustainable community strategy and the Local Transport Plan.

More Nottingham businesses are taking advantage of Nottingham City Council's Work Place Travel Service grant to meet their zero emission aspirations.
TQC Ltd, a Nottingham company providing specialised test and automated handling machinery to customers all over the world, are one of the latest. The company has already switched two diesel vehicles in its fleet for full EV's, Kia E-Niro's, that are now used for all business related trips. To keep these charged up and ready for use, TQC Ltd have made use of the grant to install three EV chargepoints.
Phil Tonge, Production Director, said “This is a very positive step forward for us. We hope that when other colleagues start to use these EV's that they will be encouraged to change their own private vehicles to similar hybrids or full EV's once they realise that modern EV's are usable. “
“Our new charge points will be available for all staff and visitors to use, this will enable staff to have more confidence in the use of EV's knowing that there is a charge facility at their place of work.”
