But the truth is, without our election protections, Republican state legislatures will change the rules to make it much harder for Democrats to keep our congressional majority in the midterms and win future elections. They will have free reign to gerrymander and redraw congressional districts to elect as many Republicans as possible and implement restrictive voter laws aimed at lowering election turnout among people of color and the elderly.
