** ⚖️ Progress in the Fight Against Conversion Therapy
------------------------------------------------------------
This Pride, lawmakers across the country have taken bold action to protect LGBTQ youth from conversion therapy. The governors of Wisconsin and Michigan signed executive orders banning taxpayer funding of the dangerous and discredited practice — both of which directly cite The Trevor Project’s original research on the harms of conversion therapy. Further, North Dakota legislators passed new regulations prohibiting licensed social workers, the vast majority of mental health providers in the state, from subjecting LGBTQ youth to conversion therapy — proving that progress is possible even in unlikely places. Trevor is committed to an every-state strategy to protect LGBTQ youth from this so-called “therapy".

** 📊 Pride Among LGBTQ Young People
------------------------------------------------------------
Pride month highlights opportunities for LGBTQ people to openly express their identity and for allies to have an opportunity to show love and support for LGBTQ people. It’s also a time to recognize the resilience of LGBTQ people. Our data suggest that greater levels of pride in the LGBTQ community are associated with lower rates of attempted suicide in the past year among LGBTQ youth.

** ⚖️ Title IX Protects Trans Students, Announces U.S. Dept. of Ed
------------------------------------------------------------
Earlier this month, The Trevor Project applauded Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona’s announcement that the Department of Education would “double down” on affirming transgender and nonbinary students’ rights under Title IX, the 1972 law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in public schools.
“Transgender and nonbinary young people should feel safe going to school and know that they are protected from discrimination. The Trevor Project is grateful to the Department of Education for actively working to ensure that schools are safe and affirming spaces for transgender and nonbinary youth. We know that trans-affirming schools can be life-saving.”

As our National Pride Partner, in the last two years alone, Macy's has helped to raise more than $1.6 million for our life-saving mission.
This year, shoppers can celebrate Pride by giving back to Trevor through Macy’s charitable giving program from June 1 – June 30 at all Macy’s stores nationwide and through its digital platforms.
