Urge the United Kingdom to End Its Fur Trade
Dear John,
In a welcome move, the United Kingdom is evaluating how to further strengthen its animal welfare standards. As part of the process, it is seeking input ([link removed]) from the public on the import, export, and sale of fur and the impacts of its commercial trade in fur. It is inviting anyone, in any country, to submit comments. This is a unique and important opportunity to make your voice heard and urge the UK to end its trade in fur.
The UK has already taken important steps to protect furbearing animals. Fur farming has been banned since the early 2000s, and restrictions have been established on the import of fur from domestic cats and dogs, seals, and wild animals trapped for their fur. However, commercial trade in fur continues, such as through farmed fur from mink, foxes, and other species imported to the UK from other countries, and through the sale of pelts from wild animals trapped under the guise of predator control. It is time for the UK to close these loopholes and end the commercial trade in fur.

What You Can Do
It is important for UK officials to hear from you. Before the June 28 deadline, please either
* complete the UK's online survey ([link removed]) (you do not need to respond to every question, only the ones you want to) or
* send a message to Facebook ([link removed]), Twitter ([link removed]), and Instagram ([link removed]) for other important animal protection actions and news. Check out the latest edition of the AWI Quarterly ([link removed])!
