Team, this week, Senate Republicans blocked H.R. 1 using the filibuster.
After we worked so hard to protect our elections and our democracy with the For the People Act, I can’t help but be deeply disappointed.
However, the fight doesn’t stop here. It’s only just begun. In fact, in the face of Republican opposition, I am more committed than ever to protecting the American right to vote.
That’s why we’re already turning our attention to another voting rights bill, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. In recognition of the late Congressman John Lewis, this bill will strengthen the existing Voting Rights Act and put an end to GOP voter suppression.
Friends -- the only way we can succeed is if we keep trying.
So, I’m pleading: Can I count on you to cosponsor the John Lewis Voting Rights Act immediately? I need 5,000 Democrats to step up and make their voices heard. »
Thank you for being part of this fight.
