Dangerous pollutants continue to flow into waterways across our country — and politicians are still following in former President Trump’s footsteps by neglecting to protect clean water.

If we truly want to course correct and reverse the damage caused by the last four years, we need to continue fighting like our future depends on it. Because it does.

Friend, that’s where you come in: We close our fiscal year on 6/30 at midnight and every gift will be matched before this deadline.

Our goal is $10,000 in this short time, and falling short would mean we have fewer resources to bring to the fight for clean water, which is why I must ask: Please chip in a gift while this match is still active!

Give now to double your impact for clean water →

Our to-do list is long, but near its very top is restoring the Clean Water Act, which was passed nearly 50 years ago to address some of the worst pollution crises of 1972.

Implementation and enforcement have fallen woefully short of its original intent, leaving 70 percent of assessed U.S. lakes and reservoirs “impaired” by pollution: the waters we drink, fish from, and swim in, compromised by dangerous contaminants.

We’re seizing this moment to restore the Clean Water Act and protect American waterways, now working to ensure the Biden administration:

  • Specifies the Clean Water Act applies to most U.S. waterways
  • Strengthens pollution rules for factory farms
  • Controls pollution from contaminants that did not exist in 1972
The new balance of federal power means we can actually get this done in time for the Clean Water Act’s 50th anniversary, but it will take everything we have in the coming fiscal year, and that’s why I’m emailing you now.

A close friend of Waterkeeper is MATCHING your fiscal year-end gift made today. Please, GIVE NOW →

With my thanks,

Lindsey
