Save the Children Action Network is the political voice for kids.

Vice President Harris is making her first trip to the border as horrifying new reports are emerging on the treatment of children being held in U.S. custody. We must urge her and President Biden to provide safe and humane treatment for these vulnerable children!

Hi John -

Kids covered in lice. Wide-spread COVID making kids sick. Children on suicide watch, reports of sexual abuse and denial of basic medical treatment.

These are the conditions recent news reports revealed that unaccompanied children are facing in a mass influx shelter in Texas.1,2,3

Today, as the Vice President prepares to makes her first visit to the border, we call on the administration to take immediate action to protect these children.

Send a message to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris – keep your promise to provide safe and humane treatment of migrant children in U.S. custody!

Facilities like Ft. Bliss, a large Emergency Intake Site on a military base, are no place for children. It was set up to handle the large number of unaccompanied children who entered the country after the previous administration’s cruel and illegal ban on unaccompanied children seeking asylum was lifted.

The Biden administration promised a return to fair and humane treatment of children held in government custody. For the most part, the administration has worked to keep that promise.

But these reports show that unaccompanied children are still being held in dangerous, unsafe conditions while awaiting placement with family members or sponsors. We must speak out.

Tell the President and Vice President that we can and must do better in how we treat children who are seeking safety in our country.

Thanks for being a voice for kids,
