Hi there --

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Schuyler VanValkenburg. I have had the honor of representing the 72nd House District — the Richmond suburbs of Henrico County — since I flipped this seat from red-to-blue in 2017.

Henrico County has been my home for over 20 years now. It’s where I have taught government and history to hundreds of middle school and high school students in Henrico County Public Schools. It’s where I have raised my three kids. And it’s the community I am proud to fight for every day as a member of the House of Delegates.

Right now, I am the only active K-12 public school teacher serving in the General Assembly. I have made it my mission to make sure our state legislature is investing in our schools, our students, and our educators. With our Democratic majority, we’ve been able to make historic investments in education, but there’s still so much work to be done.

This week the Republican State Leadership Committee unveiled a list of their top 13 target house districts in Virginia. And I am on that list. This means the Virginia GOP is going to be flooding my opponent’s campaign with cash. There’s no pathway to protecting our Democratic majority without my seat in the 72nd. Can you split a $10 donation between the Democratic Party of Virginia and my campaign to make sure we protect my seat and keep Virginia blue?

Our Democratic majority has already accomplished so much — from investing in public education to passing the Virginia Voting Rights Act to raising the minimum wage.
