How Do You Prepare When Hurricane Season Never Ends?

At Project HOPE we pay special attention to the start of June. Why?
Because June is the beginning of the hurricane season.

We know that this year we are confronting a new world of health challenges. Climate change is intensifying storms, while COVID-19 and other factors mean getting supplies and medical volunteers where they're needed is slower and more complicated.

In many communities, families and health care workers are still recovering from the last devastating hurricane or crisis. With your support during the past few seasons, we helped save lives and equip health workers and clinics:

We checked in with our team members in the Bahamas and Honduras to listen and learn more about their biggest concerns, how COVID-19 has extended the road to recovery, and what Project HOPE is doing on the ground to prepare.

Project HOPE stays for the long haul until the communities most impacted by hurricanes have a chance to build back and prepare to face the next disaster. To do so, we work closely with local partners — whether by restoring access to clean water and sanitation, repairing health facilities, or training communities in first-aid.

Recovery continues in places like the Bahamas and Puerto Rico. However we must acknowledge that climate change threatens to undo so much of their progress.
