Dear John,
When it comes to addressing the issues of our time, doing nothing is not an option. This is why since day one I have been willing to take on Providence’s biggest challenges. During a recent interview with WPRI Newsmakers, I discussed a variety of issues including advocating for a pension obligation bond and fully exercising the powers of the Crowley Act to dramatically transform the teachers union contract. Providence cannot afford to kick the can down the road on these major issues; we must create long term solutions and there is no better time than now.
Having served as Mayor since 2015, I have been at the forefront of many impactful decisions such as erasing the City’s $13 million cumulative deficit and producing a nationally-acclaimed Climate Justice Plan that centers the voices of frontline communities and sets Providence on the path to carbon neutrality by 2050.
My hope is that my interview and many of the efforts done by our campaign team will better inform and serve Providence regarding the issues at hand and how we can best tackle them. I would like to thank you and I am asking for your continued support--Can you help chip in $10, $15, $20 dollars? Any contribution greatly helps our campaign infrastructure.
Thank you and I send you my best wishes,
Jorge
