Dear John,

I'm reaching out to our community today to ask if you can help make a difference in the life of one of our own: Dr. Shahin Nouri. Shahin is a neurologist based out of New York City who has devoted his life to helping care for thousands of people with epilepsy.

Now it’s time for us to lend him a helping hand. Last spring, Shahin was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma alongside a second form of Lymphoma. He has exhausted all available therapies and his only chance for survival is a stem cell transplant from a compatible donor within the next four months.

With this in mind, Shahin's family and friends launched the #Hope4Shahin campaign to find stem cell donors who may be able to help save his life. In this spirit, they are hosting donor match events throughout California, Virginia, and New York City in the coming days and weeks. If you are between the ages of 18-44, in good health, and willing to donate your stem cells to those in need, then please visit shahinswings.org to get involved. [[link removed]]

The odds of a match increase substantially among people of the same ethnic background, so Shahin's family is encouraging individuals of Iranian, Afghan, Turkish, Kurdish, Pakistani, and Indian descent to get involved if possible. If you're unable to donate stem cells, then please consider sharing the campaign with your networks and following @Hope4Shahin on Twitter. [[link removed]]

Thank you for supporting members of our own community. Now let's get to work to help save Shahin's life.

With hope,
