Hi John,
[Note: I’m $2,400 short of today’s fundraising goal. Can you rush $27 now to help me get there?]
Did you see the clip from General Mark Milley speaking to Congress about critical race theory and white rage?
In it, he says that people in uniform should be open and widely read and states that he himself has read Marx, Mao, and Lenin.
So doesn’t it make sense to learn what caused people to attack the Capitol building? To learn about our national history of white supremacy, slavery, and racist brutality? Of course it does.
It’s scary to see Republican-controlled states banning students from learning about our own history. The GOP already tried to steal the election and refuses to approve a January 6th Commission. They’ve already spent decades infiltrating school boards to take evolution off the curriculum. Now they want mass ignorance on racism in the US.
This is who the modern Republican Party is.
That’s why in Congress, I will refuse to play nice with the GOP while our rights get trampled on.
I’m running against the 13th most conservative Democrat in the House. My district has been blue for 56 years. It’s time we had a representative who actually represents us, who stands firm for our rights instead of cringing meekly while the GOP runs roughshod over our country.
I’m $2,400 short of today’s fundraising goal. Can you give $27 now to help me close the gap, so I can fight for your rights in Congress?
In his first term in Congress, my opponent Derek Kilmer touted a bill he sponsored as “bipartisan,” because when he proposed it, it had a grand total of two sponsors: him and a Republican. No cosponsors. That is the hollowness of the word “bipartisan.”
(As an aside, Kilmer’s bill would have made it so that the first company to reach any asteroid would own all asteroids in the Solar System. Why? Because lobbyists for an asteroid mining company paid him thousands of dollars to.)
I believe that in the richest country on Earth no one should be hungry, homeless, in poverty, or without healthcare. I’m not going to wait for Republicans to come around on this common-sense stance before taking action. If they do, great. If not, I’m just going to move forward.
If you agree that it’s time to stop playing nice with the Republican Party and to start fighting for our rights, please contribute $27 now, so I can do that in Congress:
