This month we recognized National Gun Violence Awareness
Day to remember lives lost to gun violence and to raise awareness
of this epidemic.
So far, over 20,000 Americans have died from gun violence
this year — that’s already more than the total death toll from
2019. Inaction is not an option. We can take common sense actions
today, including proposals supported by national law enforcement
organizations, such as requiring background checks at all points
of sale and banning the sale, manufacture, and distribution of
weapons intended for use in war.
We’re reminded of the urgency of this criss and the need
for Congress to address it.
