What I've learned from DC JWJ

{First_Name} —

I’ve been part of the Jobs with Justice family for a long time.

I started as an organizer with UFCW on the Respect DC campaign, working to make Walmart respect DC communities as the company prepared to open its first store here. Then I joined the team at Jobs with Justice to led some of the organization’s most intense fights. Eventually I stepped up to become president of the Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO, where I work today.

I have been honored to work alongside and learn from DC Jobs with Justice along the way. DC Jobs with Justice has taught hundreds of DC residents how to hold rallies, mobilize our neighbors, and push for the change we believe in. Join me in supporting DC Jobs with Justice today:

DC Jobs with Justice has shaped the lives of lots of people, not just me. All summer long we’re holding a community storytelling project, asking you to share memories of DC Jobs with Justice campaigns. Take a moment to share your story as part of the project.

I said it there and it’s still true: DC Jobs with Justice is the place we struggle together. If we are going to be in the fight, I want it to be with people I care about and trust. Join me in giving back to the organization that brings us together: become a sustainer of DC Jobs with Justice today.

Sincerely,

Dyana Forester

President,

Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO

P.S. — I shared my story as part of the 20th anniversary celebration. Hear more about my experience there, and share your own DCJWJ story.
