President Trump Right to Call for Pushback on Critical Race Theory Lessons – One of the most important tools for combatting critical theory’s prejudice in the classroom is giving families control of where, and what, their children learn. Ultimately, as Attorney General Barr pointed out in a major keynote address, the spread of the biased CRT ideology in our classrooms and other areas of our lives under the Biden-Harris administration demonstrates that it has become a state ideology that parents have a right to reject. This demonstrates once again that public education funding must be student centered and portable to a school of choice. CRT’s discrimination, like COVID, has made it clear that America needs school choice now.
Is Your School Hiding Its Critical Race Theory Teaching? Here Are 5 Things to Ask About – Frankly, the purveyors of CRT and related theories are shocked that Americans from all walks of life are speaking up against CRT. They thought they could take over classrooms, offices, the military—the whole country, really—without meeting any resistance. Instead, parents are speaking out—from Loudoun County, Va., where I spoke to 300 loud parents meeting at the county government building on Saturday, to Douglas County, Colo., where school district authorities were astounded at the vehemence of the opposition. Heritage experts: Jonathan Butcher and Mike Gonzalez

Rising Crime a Result of the Left’s ‘Defund the Police’ Obsession – President Biden has committed to meeting with various organizations to get their input on combatting the surge in violent crime, but it’s some of these same organizations that are contributing to it. Some of these groups, such as the George Soros-funded Open Society Foundations, are involved in helping to elect radical, rogue prosecutors around the country who are encouraging crime rather than prosecuting it. When these prosecutors refuse to do their jobs by refusing to prosecute entire categories of crimes, it’s the victims and members of their communities who suffer. The Biden administration could also help to effectively combat the rising crime rates by fixing the crisis it created at the border. As the current FBI director recently made clear, the chaos at the border is allowing drug smuggling, human trafficking, and gang activity to flourish—and to spread elsewhere, too. Unfortunately, many of the Biden administration’s proposed solutions, such as banning assault weapons—a category of weapons his own nominee to be ATF director had difficulty defining—and banning high-capacity magazines are political moves designed to please his base, but which will do little to make communities safer. Heritage expert: Zack Smith

Three traps Republicans must avoid during infrastructure negotiations – So what should Republicans push for during infrastructure negotiations? First, they must receive strong public assurances that Democrats won’t use reconciliation to get the remainder of their spending demands. Otherwise, negotiations are not being done in good faith. Second, Republicans should promote changes that would improve the value of America’s infrastructure investing. This could include providing more flexibility to state governments and the private sector to raise and spend their own funds; reforming federal red tape that adds billions of dollars and years of delays to construction costs, and focusing federal funds on projects that will generate value rather than checking political boxes. Finally, Republicans must seek to rein in federal spending rather than rubber-stamping yet another wasteful spree. Heritage expert: David Ditch

Biden Administration Undermines Women’s Equality Under Title IX – This is as it should be. Jobs may be performed equally well by qualified individuals regardless of sex. Unlike matters of employment, however, sexual differences are extremely relevant when it comes to health care and athletics. Amendments like Title IX were passed because biological differences matter when it comes to fairness and opportunities in sports. The Bostock v. Clayton County ruling acknowledges this legal distinction. The Supreme Court explicitly stated that Bostock v. Clayton County cannot be used to apply to matters beyond employment nondiscrimination under Title VII. Despite its lip-service to equality, the Biden administration’s actions speak louder than words. As Americans celebrate Title IX’s anniversary, they must not rest on the accomplishments of the past. There is need for renewed efforts in the fight for women’s equality. Freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction—and women’s freedoms are no exception. Heritage expert: Jared Eckert
