Yesterday, Senate Republicans ignored the will of the people and showed their disdain for our Democracy — using the Jim Crow Filibuster to block the For the People Act.
What we’ve witnessed since the past election is a precise, intentional, and coordinated assault on our sacred right to vote from Republicans and corporate interests — specifically seeking to disenfranchise Black and brown folx, who turned out in historic numbers this past cycle.
By blocking this vital legislation, Republicans have, once again, demonstrated their contempt for the people and their willingness to sacrifice our democracy in order to gain power.
We must protect and strengthen voting rights and keep power in the hands of the people — that means ending the Jim Crow filibuster so we can pass the For The People Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, and other meaningful policies that address the crises our communities are facing.
I am not letting up in this fight. Together, we’ll continue to organize, mobilize, and advocate like our Democracy depends on it — because it does.
