We are at a pivotal moment for our democracy.

Politicians in state legislatures across the country are passing undemocratic bills designed to make it harder for people to vote, and they’re specifically targeting Black and brown communities. That’s why it's critical that we pass the For the People Act (S.1.).

But despite overwhelming public support of the For the People Act, the Senate is at a stand still, because the filibuster is preventing legislation like S.1. from passing!

That’s why tomorrow, Thursday, June 24 at 12 pm ET. we’ll be rallying at the capitol for a People’s Filibuster to demand the passage of the For the People Act and that our Senators address the outdated, undemocratic filibuster.

• We will be joined by Phil A. Buster, a life-sized turtle with a sledgehammer, which he uses to “bust” any potentially beneficial legislation that comes up for a vote.

• We will also be joined by members of Congress, movement and coalition leaders, activists and members of the media.

• We will end the day with a dance party at leader Mitch McConnell’s home at 5 pm ET where we will “rave” about the filibuster. RSVP here.

It’s critical that we have a strong showing to demonstrate the overwhelming support for the For the People Act, which would protect our freedom to vote, ensure fair representation in government, and end the dominance of big money in politics.

Since its inception, the filibuster has been used to block civil rights legislation, so we are rallying together to say “not again.” Together - we can and will pass the For the People Act.
