John,
Exactly one year ago today, we celebrated our primary campaign win after months of intense campaigning, advocating, and canvassing on behalf of Jamaal and our progressive movement.
We spent many long nights strategically planning our outreach and many early mornings meeting voters on their way to work handing out flyers, and spreading our platform ideas. All the while, the political establishment continued to underestimate our grassroots power, but our hard work led us to defeating an entrenched, 31-year incumbent to finally bring NY-16 the true leadership they deserve.
During his time in Congress, Jamaal has been boldly spearheading a vision of true representation, causing problems for the status quo, and re-imagining our government institutions in the process.
With his leadership, we brought resources and COVID-19 relief to highly impacted communities, rallied around communities from Texas to Alabama, and directed mutual aid to local organizations who are answering the call to help. Jamaal introduced bold and progressive legislation, like the Care for All Agenda, the Broadband Justice Act and the Congressional Oversight in Unjust Policing Act to investigate the January 6 attack on the Capitol. Most importantly, Jamaal has continued to challenge those defending the status quo, Republican or Democrat, as well as stand up for the most marginalized communities at home or abroad.
Our work in Washington continues. And as we look forward to the year ahead, we have no idea what challenges or roadblocks we will face. We could face coordinated attacks from the political establishment and challengers to our seat. And with our next quarterly FEC fundraising report due at the end of this month, it's critical that we rally to show the strength of our movement right now.
Unlike most other incumbent campaigns, our grassroots-funded movement refuses to accept a dime in corporate PAC money. Our power comes directly from people like you who have faith in this movement — not entrenched, corporate interests who actively fight against our progress.
So if we want to see this necessary work continue and bring long-lasting change to our communities, it's up to us to strengthen our grassroots foundation. Whether it's $5, $10, or $25, your support of any amount is the key to building up our progressive momentum and ensuring Jamaal can continue this work in Congress. Please make a contribution to our campaign today.
In solidarity,
Team Bowman
