Hi John — In a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a contribution toward my campaign for Lt. Governor. But first, I hope you will give me a chance to explain why your support is so important.

At the end of the month, we will close our books on our second quarter fundraising. The next morning, our finance team will compile a report for state election officials, and a few days later, our numbers will be made public for the first time since I became the Democratic nominee.

I’m really proud of this report and what it says about our campaign. You see, this report shares more than just how much we’ve raised — more importantly, it tells the world how many people are with us because they believe in what we’re building together.

But to be completely honest, this report makes me a little nervous, too. Now that we’ve won the nomination, everyone from Winsome Sears to state Republicans will comb through our report looking for signs of weakness. And you can bet they will start launching attacks if they think we’re vulnerable.

We have to show the Commonwealth just how strong this grassroots team is and prove that we have what it takes to defeat Winsome Sears this November.

But right now, we are a little behind where we need to be if we want to hit our goal next week, so I’m hoping you will pitch in to help us catch up.
