Senate Republicans just filibustered the For the People Act. Every. Single. One.

The For the People Act would expand voting rights and root out corruption, and that’s exactly why Republican opposition is so fierce. Mitch McConnell and the GOP caucus rely on dark money special interests to help them get elected.

Senate Republicans say no to every proposal, every compromise, every effort to pass voting rights legislation. Meanwhile, Republican legislatures across the country have passed new laws to suppress voting.

I think we can all see what’s going on here. I was humbled when Minnesotans elected me last fall with 80% of eligible voters participating, the highest voter turnout in the country. Minnesota, with same-day voter registration, vote-by-mail, and more high-turnout measures should be the model for the nation. But we need to strengthen our Democratic majority to make it so.
