#VOTEPROCHOICE

We asked why you support #VOTEPROCHOICE. Here's what you had to say: Nancy S. I support people's rights to vote and have their voices heard. Randi W. Because everyone has a right to be heard. John D. The choice of when or if a family is started belongs solely between a woman and her doctors. Jess G. Every person should be in control of their own body, always. Barbara C. I remember the time before Roe. Young women died or suffered serious illnesses or injuries from unqualified abortion providers. Outlawing abortion doesn't stop abortions. It only stops safe abortions. That's not acceptable. Daniel S. Because women's rights are human rights. Angela S. Women have the right to decide what they will or will not do for their bodies. I feel like taking that right away is a huge step backward. Vanessa F. I value a woman's right to choose what is best for her body. Not everyone shares the same convictions or has the same moral compass, and it is not up to me or anyone else to be policing the natural bodily functions of another human being, regardless of how I feel about it. Karen D. I know too many people including myself who needed this procedure. Elizabethann B. I remember when there were no safe choices. That is my main reason, but I want to safeguard to days' youth. Many women were lost, and many children grew up without a mother. Susan F. Women need control over their own lives and bodies. Bob C. Because it is a sensible thing to advocate for. Elizabeth M. I'm a woman who values reproductive freedom. Vera l. Since the 70's I have volunteered to support Pro-choice. Always believed in it, also had two abortions before the availability of contraceptive pills. At one time I mal- used a diaphragm and got pregnant with, believe it or not, with TRIPLETS, that were born 60 years ago. Two are still alive. From one day to the next I had doubled the size of my family. Motherhood was very difficult from that day on, but I survived. Am now 91 years old, with a few health problems. Nancy S. Keep laws off my body Janet K. MY LIFE, MY BODY, MY CHOICE!!!!!! Gina B. You're fighting to protect my rights! Victor N. This is a very important issue for reproductive health. All women have the sacred right to decide what they wish for their health!!!! Linda S. Bodily autonomy is a human right that should be accessible to all of us by law. It is currently accessible to men but not to women. Linda L. Health care is a human right, and a woman needs the right to decide when to have a child, and when not to, and to keep it her own choice Eleanor R. I have been in this fight since the 70s. No one except me should have the right to tell me what I can do with my uterus Priscilla M. Because it's a basic women's freedom to choose to have a child or not. It's no one else's business if I have a child or not, they will not raise it, nor will they carry it to term nor will they pay any the bills. This is an individual choice. It’s legal in every developed country in the world, why are we going backward. Kathy S. I had Depression-era parents and was a rebellious teen, well as you may guess when I became pregnant and needed an abortion it was perfectly legal no limits, and no waiting. Every woman who needs to terminate a pregnancy should have a guilt-free option of doing so. Glenn L. Because most pro-lifers are not pro-life. They are pro-birth and then do not give a shit about what happens to that life when it is born. They oppose all kinds of help for unwed mothers and aid to children living in poverty. These radical believers are for compulsory childbirth. They impose their values and religious beliefs on everyone. That is flat-out wrong. I believe a woman has the right to choose what happens to her body. This is at a most fundamental level an individual's decision. Many times, abortion is required because the mother-to-be cannot carry the pregnancy to full term without endangering her own life. Milly M. Reproductive rights are human rights and denying women the choice is denying them proper health care and decision-making about themselves. Kate C. Yes, I support a female's right to bodily autonomy! The government doesn't even consider regulating men's bodies. Evelyn L. I firmly believe that every person who seeks an abortion--for whatever reason--must have access to the procedure: safe and low-cost. It is a fundamental human right for the pregnant person to be able to choose to have a child or an abortion. Anything less than choice violates human and civil rights. Noel B. I support a woman's right to choose. I have 3 nieces and a future daughter-in-law. I don't want them to be in a position where if they unexpectedly get pregnant that they have the option to terminate that pregnancy safely. Karen C. You are doing the right thing Patricia S. Because I believe that everyone should have the freedom to decide if and when to reproduce. Eithne C. It's the right thing to do! Karen K. women's autonomy over their bodies and life choices is a human right. Ramona S. I believe this is an entirely private decision or choice by the woman and her doctor. As a retired nurse, this choice has nothing to do with government or politics. It is the woman's choice. Mary F. The decision should rest with the woman it affects. Marcia J. Women will never have equality without choice. L A. Because my health care should only be between me and my doctor! Ann R. I believe women need the right to choose. Ellie G. I'm old enough to remember the world before Roe v Wade. A woman in my college dorm got pregnant just before the school year ended. She had an illegal procedure, went home for the summer, ended up in the hospital, and never came back to school. Abortion must be safe and legal!
