FOSTER
Dear John,

Have you ever heard the saying “one is the loneliest number?” Sure, some things might be better on their own. One cavity’s better than two, for instance.

But for tiny kittens, two is always better. When kittens are adopted in pairs, like Vanya and Venice (pictured above), they have the chance to learn proper kitten behavior, socialization, and development from one another instead of navigating growth on their own. Plus, having two kitten playmates around is just as cute for you as it is beneficial for them.

This summer, our goal is to find homes for 350 kittens. That means we’re looking for roughly 175 families ready to add two feline fluffballs to their ranks. We get it— it’s a big ask. But with kitten season in full bloom, more kittens arrive at PAWS Chicago every single day—and they're all anxious for a home.

Check out the adoptable kittens. If you see a pair you’re interested in, apply.

Sweatin’ with Schatzi

Have you heard about our girl Schatzi? She’s a sweet, six-year-old boxer mix working hard to get in shape and even harder to find her perfect home. So far, walks around the block and skateboard rides have helped her lose two pounds—go Schatzi! Now, she just needs someone to fall in love with her like we have.

10 Cats Rescued from Hoarding

PAWS Chicago always sets out to rescue the pets who need our help most. On May 25, that happened to be 10 cats from a hoarding situation. When Chicago Animal Care and Control contacted us for help with Adriana, Bertha, Channing, Feldon, Dooley, Genovia, Hershey, Elijah, Idella, and Joanie, we cleared space, readied our exam rooms, and got to work welcoming them to PAWS.

Welcome Home, Schmoo

Schmoo (PAWS name Schmidt) was only supposed to be in foster for a few weeks—at least that’s what his foster mom, Anna Zambelli, said. But after two months of claiming her fresh laundry as a bed, healing from heartworm, and falling in love, it was clear Schmoo had found his family. Read his heartwarming story below, then learn how you can foster (fail) your very own Schmoo.

A Little London in Chicago

Right here in Chicago, across the pond from our proper UK counterparts, lives a tiny kitten named London. With the help of her caretaker, Dolores Sanchez, and the whole PAWS Chicago team, she’s spent the last three months overcoming malnutrition to gain almost a pound and a half, healing from painful tummy troubles, and battling a respiratory infection. Now, this posh little kitten’s ready to make her way in the Windy City!
