Manchester's "Race & Education in St. Louis" - July 11

Manchester UMC is sponsoring a community conversation on race and education in the St. Louis region. A panel of local experts will discuss timely topics, including: What actually is “Critical Race Theory”? What does diversity education look like? Why are we still talking about race? A Q&A session will follow the panel. Attend this free learning opportunity in person or online. All are welcome!

NW District Lay Servant Class: Leading Prayer

Title of Class: Public Prayer, Virtual via Zoom

Summary of Class: Praying in public can be daunting, but prayer is something one learns. This course on praying in public will help the participant grow in confidence and skill in public prayer and enrich their personal prayer life.

Description:
This class will be hosted by the Northwest District office and offered virtually via Zoom. Please ensure you can attend each class, held Wednesdays in the month of July (14, 21, 28) and August (4, & 11) from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. This class will be taught by Rev. Sherry Oxandale, Associate Pastor at First Kearney UMC in the Northwest District.
Participants will need the book “Shaping the Prayers of the People: The Art of Intercession” by Samuel Wells and Abigail Kocher. It is available through Cokesbury, and Amazon. Participants are responsible for purchasing the book before class. Please read Chapters 1 & 2 prior to the first class. There will be reading and/or coursework each week.

There are no prerequisites required to take this course. It counts as an advanced lay servant ministry class upon completion. Attendance at each class is required to receive completion status.  

We can host up to 20 participants, and registration will close by end of day June 30, 2021.

Plan to have your book, a notebook, a pen and your bible with you at each class. You will receive the class Zoom link one week prior to the start of class.

Epworth in Urgent Need of Donations

On June 29th our youth are moving into our new Transitional Living Program facility and we are in desperate need of donations. We ask you to take a look at our Amazon Wishlist linked below. Donating these items will make the facility feel more like home to our youth going through this transition. Monetary donations will also be heavily appreciated, which you can donate through our website.

We are asking for donations to be made by June 28th at the very latest!
