John,
20 years ago, Barbara was the lone voice of dissent against the Authorization of the Use of Military Force (AUMF) — an authorization for the president to unleash military force in the “War on Terror” that was approved by the House on a 420-1 vote and a 98-0 vote in the Senate.
Taking that vote wasn’t easy — she faced hostility from within her own party and even death threats in her private life. But she held true to her values — our values — and the notion that Congress shouldn’t give the president a blank check to use military force.
Deeply unpopular at the time, Barbara’s brave vote was vindicated this month when the 2002 AUMF of the Iraq War was repealed by the House in a bipartisan effort. Now, it’s headed to the Senate with support from Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and President Biden himself.
In the fight to end forever wars and reduce bloated defense spending, no one in Congress has been more effective and reliable than Barbara.
Will you help her keep up the fight? Chip in today to keep Barbara’s voice advocating for our values in the House.

The 2002 AUMF repeal was an important step in acknowledging our nation’s previous missteps, but more work is needed to check any president's powers and put an end to forever wars backed by billion dollar defense budgets.
Barbara will never waver in that fight.
Thank you for supporting her,
