John,
Last night, Senate Republicans blocked debate on an ambitious democracy reform bill called the For the People Act (S. 1).
But the story doesn’t end there. In fact, the fight is just beginning, and momentum is on the side of reform. There is already talk of another vote. Key Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) previously announced he would vote NO on this bill, but voted YES to move forward with it yesterday.
Across the country, Republicans, independents, and Democrats alike overwhelmingly support major reforms to reduce political corruption, end dark money, strengthen ethics laws, get rid of partisan gerrymandering, and protect our basic freedom to vote.
These reforms are long overdue. The last major upgrade of our democracy was made in 1965, with the passage of the Voting Rights Act. That’s why we can’t stop now.
And that’s where you come in. We need to press our senators to do what it takes to enact meaningful reforms to strengthen our democracy.
Call your senators at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to pass significant political reforms now

Tell your senators:
Our political system is broken and we need major reforms.
We must reduce political corruption, end dark money, strengthen ethics laws, get rid of partisan gerrymandering, and protect our basic freedom to vote.
I urge you to take immediate action to strengthen our democracy. This is not a Republican issue or a Democratic issue. It’s an American issue.
Together, we can overcome the obstacles to winning the much-needed reforms our country needs.
Thanks for all that you do.
Onward,
