As the National Engagement Advisor at Groundwork, I’ve been excited to help Joe think through our first set of partner states. My experiences in Georgia (I just finished my third cycle there leading the state for the Biden-Harris Campaign) , showed me just how much investing in organizing programs can make a difference.
However, as our Groundwork Landscape survey confirmed, the majority of organization-based, national, and high-dollar resources are, understandably, being directed towards traditional “battleground states.”
But if we want to build sustainable power, we need to expand the map even further.
That’s why Groundwork’s national footprint will focus on three distinct regions: the Deep South, the Plains and Appalachia, which are ripe for additional investment and opportunity. Our first set of states are just the start of our work in these regions.
We’ve announced Alabama, Mississippi, and West Virginia specifically as our FIRST partner states. Want to help? Donate now! [[link removed]]

Whether it is the decades-long shift of a state like West Virginia, once solidly blue, or the growing number of Republican supermajorities across the Deep South, the GOP’s dominance in these regions has helped perpetuate the continued disenfranchisement of working-class and BIPOC voters across the country.
I’m proud to work with Groundwork and to focus on these three states. I know that if we dig deep, organize with intention and heart, and follow the lead of local activists and leaders, we can make a lasting impact for decades to come.
However, we need your help to have the resources to hit the ground running. Donate now to the Groundwork Project Partner State Fund. [[link removed]]
Thanks!

Groundwork Project was founded by Joe Kennedy III to support community organizers, advocates, and activists nationwide who are working year-round to build a just, free, and equitable future for all. For decades, the Democratic Party has under-resourced, under-valued, and under-recognized the importance of local political infrastructure and year-round grassroots organizing. This needs to change.
We're directing resources, attention, and support to the local advocates and state-based organizations doing the deep, long-term organizing that Democrats need to build a more diverse party, expand its base, win elections, and deliver progressive policy reforms. Contribute now. [[link removed]]
