Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce is taking aim at a critical drinking water safeguard that protects Wisconsin’s drinking water from PFAS – and we need your support with an urgent gift today to fight back: [[link removed]]
Dear John,
Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce is at it again.
This time they’ve brought a lawsuit challenging the DNR’s authority to investigate and regulate PFAS contamination under the state’s Spills Law, which grants the DNR the ability to regulate the discharge of hazardous substances.
A ruling in WMC’s favor could have far-reaching impacts beyond our ability to protect communities like yours from PFAS – it could hugely limit the DNR’s ability to protect the water you drink from manure and other dangerous contaminants.
Fight back against this attack on critical drinking water protections with an urgent gift today that helps us double down on our efforts to protect your drinking water from toxic PFAS: [[link removed]]
That’s not all – this lawsuit comes as the Joint Finance Committee axed critical measures to protect your drinking water from PFAS contamination from the state budget, including DNR scientist positions and programs to test public water supplies and help communities tackling PFAS contamination.
It can’t be overstated how reckless it is for WMC and Joint Finance Committee leadership to stand in the way of protecting Wisconsin’s waters from PFAS contamination.
There is mounting evidence linking PFAS to a long list of negative health effects including: cancer, liver damage, decreased fertility, increased risk of asthma, and increased risk of thyroid disease.
That’s why our team is organizing in communities across Wisconsin, building support for the Clear Act to set stricter standards for PFAS contamination, and fighting to elect candidates who will challenge WMC and stand up for clean, safe drinking water in the legislature.
Can we count on your urgent gift today that helps us keep up the fight for clean, healthy drinking water for everyone who calls Wisconsin home? [[link removed]]
Thank you for taking a stand for clean water.
