John,
This is getting ridiculous. Biden still hasn’t nominated a fifth commissioner to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
With the FCC deadlocked at 2-2 the agency has been unable to move forward with critical policies like reinstating net neutrality—one of the most popular, bipartisan policies in our country’s history!1
Last week, we joined a coalition of advocacy organizations to deliver a letter pushing the Biden administration to fill the FCC seat.2 Now we need to double-down on that pressure with messages from individuals like you.
Tell the Biden administration we need a fully functioning FCC now!
Beyond just nominating a fifth commissioner, the Biden administration must nominate someone who doesn’t have ties to the telecom industry, and who will stand up to the ISPs, expand broadband so that everyone has affordable Internet access, and who will reinstate net neutrality protections.
There are already dozens of people in the Biden administration with ties to Big Tech, so it’s critical that we hammer this point home on the FCC.3
But time is ticking away, and there are limited days left for Congress to confirm someone to the FCC. The Biden administration needs to move now. Send a message to the Biden administration and demand they prioritize appointing a fifth commissioner to the FCC.
For the net,
Caitlin at Fight for the Future
