Let?s make this a Big Weekend to remember
Big walk-in weekend
We are supporting the NHS to hold another Big Weekend of walk-in vaccinations. From Friday until Monday, any adult over 18 can walk-in without appointment to vaccination centres to get their Covid-19 jab. This is a great opportunity to protect yourself and those around you from this virus.
Vaccinations are available without booking from 8am to 8pm at:
* Forest Recreation Ground
* King?s Meadow Campus on Lenton Lane
* Queen?s Medical Centre
* Richard Herrod Centre in Carlton.
Other sites are available in the wider county too. You can see the locations here: [link removed] [ [link removed] ]
The last Big Weekend was a huge success, with hundreds of extra people turning up to get their jabs. Please help us to make this four-day Vax-the-Nation event equally popular. The vaccination remains our best protection against Covid-19. If you are yet to grab your jab, take this opportunity to drop in to any centre at a day and time to suit you. Please also share this information with anyone you know who is over-18. Help us to get everyone in our city vaccinated.

Robin Hood not the only thing that?s green at Nottingham Castle!
Nottingham Castle
Everyone at the City Council is incredibly proud about the reopening of Nottingham Castle and our team?s dedication over the past few years to develop a world class attraction that will help put Nottingham on the tourism map. I?m planning to visit with my family soon and would encourage anyone to book a ticket [ [link removed] ] for what promises to be a great day out.?
I am also really proud of the environmental improvements that feature as part of the castle?s redevelopment. This includes 100% green electricity supplying the building, energy saving LED lighting across the site, minimising use of plastics in the cafes and visitor centre and sourcing local produce. From later this year visitors will be able to arrive on an electric land train running up the hill from Brewhouse Yard ? while I?m also pleased that NET is offering discounted travel for castle visitors [ [link removed] ], another great sustainable travel option.?
We all have a part to play in our journey towards carbon neutrality [ [link removed] ] and I?m delighted that Nottingham Castle is doing its bit.?

RSE day
School children
Tomorrow marks annual RSE Day [ [link removed] ] which sees schools team up to share important messages around safe and healthy relationships. We?re extremely proud that this event started here in Nottingham in 2018 and is now a national awareness-raising day, reaching thousands of pupils across the country.
This year, we?re again hosting an all-day live stream on the Nottingham City Council YouTube channel [ [link removed] ] that can be accessed by children and young people both in school and at home.?The event will feature creative workshops from Nottingham-based artists, story-telling and our host Jon Rea will be sharing all the ways that people are taking part in RSE Day, both in Nottingham and around the country.
We know from our on-going work with headteachers how important this is for children and young people in terms of highlighting the need for safe and healthy relationships. The lessons in schools are all age-appropriate and pupils are taught by experienced staff who understand how to deliver these messages.
I?d like to thank Challenge Nottingham and Discovery Education Health and Relationships who are delivering this event in partnership with the council. ?

It?s great to see that Nottingham City Homes has been recognised for its support in creating greener homes in the city ? being named as one of the country?s Top 30 Sustainable Housing Providers.
The judges praised a number of joint projects with NCH and the council, including our joint bid to secure ?12m in funding to give almost 700 homes state-of-the-art measures to make them warmer and more energy efficient. Our joint pioneering project, Energiesprong, which includes full house retrofits to create warmer and more energy efficient homes was also praised.
NCH has also delivered cavity and external wall insulation, solar panels and sustainable technology to help heat homes using minimal energy at council properties.?It?s hoped that all of our council homes will be warmer and more energy efficient by 2030
NCH was also praised for its changeover to electric vehicles, creating greener estates, supporting wildlife and biodiversity, planting 100 trees and creating bee hotels across the city to help save this most precious of wildlife. The work NCH is doing is going towards supporting Nottingham?s goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2028.
