Friend,

It was a hot past couple of weeks. In fact, we went through the highest early-season average temps on record for Minnesota -- by a whole 14 degrees. Our reopened schools had to close again due to the heat, ending what was already a hectic year.

And this heat wave didn't just pass through our backyard. Over 40 million people west of the Mississippi continue to be on alert for intense, even lethal, heat and drought.

It's no secret that extreme weather patterns are the result of human activity. Just this month, scientists reported that there's more carbon dioxide in our atmosphere than there's ever been in over four million years. We need to reverse course, but sadly, not all my colleagues buy it.

Sign my petition to demand that Congress pass bold climate policies to reduce carbon pollution so we can end this crisis and make our planet habitable for generations to come.

This crisis is staring us in the face, so why don't we see more progress? Well, follow the money: Big Oil and other corporations that pollute our planet don't want to see any laws passed that might eat into their profits. So they make huge campaign contributions to dark money PACs that support candidates who will impede any and all progress in Washington.

These corporations care more about their bottom line than about leaving a healthy, sustainable world for our kids. It's unconscionable -- so let's call it out and demand better.

Will you add your name alongside mine to tell Congress to put this planet and our shared future ahead of their corporate benefactors?

Thanks,

Dean
