John,
As June comes to an end, it’s time for us to remember and honor those affected by gun violence.
As a member of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, I am committed to passing bipartisan common sense legislation to help protect Californians and people across our nation. Every day, approximately 100 are killed by someone using a gun. 2021 has seen record breaking gun violence — this must be stopped!
While we still have a long way to go to end the gun violence epidemic that plagues this nation, please know my colleagues and I are working to make our homes, our communities, and our schools safer for everyone. One of the most obvious steps we must take is to enact H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021, which has passed the House and is pending in the Senate. I’m proud to co-sponsor this bipartisan legislation.
John, please join me this Gun Violence Awareness Month in remembrance of those across this nation whose lives are affected by gun violence, and in rededicating ourselves to passing necessary reforms like H.R. 8.
Thank you,
Jared Huffman
