This month marks nine years since immigrant youth were granted temporary
permission to stay in the U.S. through the Deferred Action for Childhood
Arrivals (DACA) program.^1
I'm MoveOn's Organizing Director, and DACA is deeply personal to me: It
gave me a temporary reprieve from deportation and access to basic
documents, like a Social Security card and a driver's license—milestones
that may not carry much meaning to most people but that transformed my
life in many ways.
While DACA has helped hundreds of thousands of immigrants (like myself),
it provided only temporary relief for just a fraction of our communities.
Nine years later, we are still waiting.
Will you call your senator at 844-818-9330 and tell them #WeCantWait? It's
time for the Senate to pass a pathway to citizenship for undocumented
immigrants!
Here's an example of what you could say:
"Hi! My name is John, and I live in Washington,
District of Columbia. I'm calling today to express my support for a pathway
to citizenship for millions of immigrants. We need Congress to act now
and pass recovery for all of us, not just some. Immigrant youth, TPS
holders, farm workers, and essential workers have yet to feel any
recovery after bearing the brunt of the pandemic, and they deserve a
path to citizenship."

In March, the American Dream and Promise Act passed the House with
bipartisan support.² If signed into law, it would put over 4 million
immigrant youth, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, essential
workers, and farmworkers on a path to citizenship. But the bill still
faces hurdles in the Senate, where Republicans are committed to
obstructing any legislation that helps communities like mine.
With the legislative clock ticking before the Senate goes on its August
recess, we're joining with our allies at the Center for Popular Democracy
for a week of action, letting Congress know that #WeCantWait: We demand
immediate and bold steps to deliver a pathway to citizenship for
undocumented immigrants.
You can play a pivotal role in this week of action by engaging in one (or
all) of the following activities in support of a pathway to citizenship
for millions of immigrants!

Immigrant youth and allies organized to win DACA and, since then, have
tirelessly worked to protect DACA and our communities against years of
Republican-led attacks. Together, we have defeated Trump, and now it's
time that Democrats reject Republican obstruction and deliver on President
Biden's agenda.
Will you take action this week in support of a pathway to citizenship for
immigrant youth and workers? Call your members of Congress at 844-818-9330
and tell them that our communities can't wait any longer. They must
deliver a pathway to citizenship for immigrants, now!

The American public overwhelmingly supports a path to citizenship for
undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.^3 It's time for Congress to
provide our community with relief from the constant fear of detention and
deportation by providing a pathway to citizenship.
America's workforce has relied on undocumented essential workers
throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been on the front lines,
helping to keep all Americans safe, fed, and cared for. A full recovery is
not possible without a pathway to citizenship, and Congress must take
action immediately.
