Kickstarting Careers, Kickstarting Business

D2N2 Skills Access Hub

Since the ?2billion Kickstart Scheme launched in September 2020, the Skills Access Hub has been supporting local employers to create impactful placements that increase the skills and employment opportunities for young people in our region.

?I make a real difference being part of the team, and I?m a significant part of it. I?m new to a warehouse environment but I had a two-week training course prior to getting the role which helped me know what to expect.?

Amelia, Online Retail Assistant, White Rose

From skills analysis and placement development, through to advice on how to retain Kickstart talent after the 6 month placement, the team of Skills Advisers have been working alongside local employers like you, to make sure opportunities meet business needs and develop future job prospects for 16 to 24 year olds.

Workplace Travel Service: Electric Van Experience

EVE case study

The Electric Van Experience (EVE) is a unique opportunity for Nottingham-based businesses to test drive a range of electric vans.

With the Government ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles brought forward to 2030, we want to support businesses to make the switch to electric vehicles. Not only are they more environmentally friendly, but they?re cheaper to run and maintain too.

How can I take part?

Taking part is easy ? just fill out our online?expression of Interest form, and one of our Workplace Travel Officers will be in touch to find out more about your business needs and, if your application is successful, to arrange handover of the van.

Please be aware that, although there is no cost to loan the van, there is a small administrative fee to take part in the scheme:

Reset. Restart: Growth Hacking

Thursday 15 July from 11am

BIPC Growth Hacking

Growth Hacking is thought of as a relatively new field in marketing, focused on rapid growth, but the term was coined by Sean Ellis in 2010, after using the process to ignite breakout growth for Dropbox.

It was conceived in relation to early-stage startups, who need massive growth within a short time on tight budgets. The goal is to rapidly test ideas that can improve the customer journey, and replicate and scale the ideas that work (and to modify or abandon the ones that don't!) before investing a lot of resources.

What will you get from this webinar?

  • Why Growth Hacking is relevant to early-stage businesses
  • How to determine if your product or service really is a ?Must Have? product or service
  • How to identify your ?Levers for Growth?
  • How to test your ideas at ?Warp Speed?

Book your free ticket on the Eventbrite page.

Nottingham and Nottinghamshire libraries are playing a leading role in helping the city?and county recover economically following the pandemic.

Thanks to support from the British Library and Department for Culture, Media and Sport, people of all ages and walks of life across the city and county can access support to start and grow their businesses via a range of free online events and resources.

The British Library has announced a major expansion of its highly successful network of library-based Business & IP Centres (BIPCs) to over 100 regional and local libraries across England by 2023, including in Beeston, Bulwell, Mansfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield.

Business & IP Centres can open up the path to entrepreneurship for anyone with a business idea, regardless of their background by providing events, workshops and one-to-ones, delivered in collaboration with local business leaders, role model entrepreneurs and community partners.
