This is infuriating, John.
Republicans in the Senate just used the filibuster to block a discussion and debate on a major voting rights bill known as the For the People Act.
Let's be clear: This was not a vote on the bill itself. The Republicans in the United States Senate have decided that they don't even want to allow a discussion or debate on how best to protect the right of all Americans to vote, and I think we all know why.
This much-needed legislation would strengthen voting rights by establishing automatic voter registration, expanding early voting, improving the campaign finance system, and ending partisan gerrymandering.
That's why Republicans are scared.
Here's the truth: the Republican Party saw unprecedented turnout against them in November, and made the decision that they would rather silence the American people than stand on the merit of their own ideas to win elections. It's un-American, shameful, and must be stopped.
We need to make sure every voter remembers the pro-democracy legislation that Republicans continue to obstruct for political gain. To do that, we need to continue raising resources and spreading the word:
Will you chip in $3 to help me sound the alarm about the Republican Party's attacks on our democracy and redouble our efforts to keep CA-49 blue and our House majority intact?

Imagine where we'd be if Republicans spent half the time trying to help working families as they do trying to make it harder to vote. It's never been clearer what the GOP game plan is. Step 1: Make elections harder to participate in. Step 2: Protect their ability to influence elections with big money at all costs.
These reforms are broadly popular. 67% of Americans support the For the People Act -- even after being given the GOP's oppositional message. Even 56% of Republicans agree with it. There is no excuse for the continued obstruction of this legislation.
We need an urgent grassroots response. If you can, please chip in $3 today >>
Thanks in advance,
