Promises Made, Promises Kept

My first 6 months in office can be summed up with one phrase: "Promises made, promises kept." Every day, I am delivering results for rural Colorado.

PUTTING COLORADO FIRST

I ran on a platform of bringing real change to Congress, and I've done exactly that. Instead of going to meetings with lobbyists, I'm spending time in the District. Instead of leading from behind, I'm ahead of the curve working for bi-partisan solutions for rural Colorado. Instead of selling out, I'm going all in to stand up for you.

I'm protecting farmers and ranchers with my Western Water Security Act, I'm helping first responders get the San Luis Valley Radar System online, I'm working hard to create new water storage systems and protect existing dams, and I'm delivering results for active forest management to prevent wildfires.

I put rural Colorado first, and I introduced the MORE PILT Act to support rural law enforcement, search and rescue operations, wildfire fighting, and quality education. I strive to be responsive to local leaders, and I’ve helped Glenwood Springs submit a grant application for the South Bridge Project and Silver Cliff work to restore its unique ZIP code.

Last year, Colorado experienced the worst wildfires in its history, and I am proud that my bipartisan amendment to use scientific active forest management to protect critical infrastructure passed through the House Committee on Natural Resources unanimously. I will be introducing a comprehensive active forest management bill soon that will protect lives and property.

My America’s Infrastructure Modernization Act is ahead of the curve in working toward a bipartisan infrastructure plan for the American people. Instead of raising taxes as proposed by the administration, my bill funds real infrastructure projects like roads and bridges without raising taxes by using already appropriated and unspent COVID funds. Additionally, my bill empowers local governments to allocate block grants to infrastructure projects that meet their unique needs.

From helping veterans with Veteran’s Administration issues to assisting senior citizens with Social Security, I have closed almost 150 cases for Coloradans having issues with the federal government, and I am currently working on an additional 100 cases. To date, my office has returned over $171,000 to constituents in my district. If you are having issues with a federal agency, please let me know!

Supporting Colorado's Farmers and Ranchers

Colorado’s Third Congressional District is home to the best farmers and ranchers in the country, and I am honored to work hard for them as they work hard for us every single day. I'm proud to co-sponsor the bi-partisan PRIME Act to give farmers and ranchers more freedom and less government.

The agricultural supply chain’s recent problems demonstrated that relying only on a small number of large industrial meat processors is a recipe for disaster. Our national food security was threatened as farmers and ranchers were forced to euthanize millions of pigs, chickens, and cattle during pandemic lockdowns. Additionally, a recent hack shut down JBS’ meat processing facilities—wiping out a quarter of the American beef supply.

That's why I stood up for farmers and ranchers by co-sponsoring Reps. Chellie Pingree and Thomas Massie’s bipartisan Processing Revival and Intrastate Meat Exemption (PRIME) Act, which will give small farmers more processing options to deliver meat to consumers.

BIDEN'S ENERGY CATASTROPHY

The east coast just recovered from a massive pipeline shutdown, and now, rural Colorado is suffering from crippling gas shortages caused by misguided policies spearheaded by House Democrats and the Biden regime.

It's hard to find gasoline in Pueblo since truck drivers are not returning to work. I joined Colorado Reps. Ken Buck and Doug Lamborn to get ahead of this issue by asking Governor Polis to follow the lead of neighboring states and end federal unemployment bonuses and get Colorado back to work. He rejected our request, saying unemployment bonuses are free money and allegedly helping Colorado's economy. If true, why are Colorado job creators experiencing a massive labor shortage and why am I constantly hearing that employers can’t hire good people because the unemployed are receiving so much money in unemployment bonuses that they don’t want/don’t feel obligated to come back to work?

In addition to Governor Polis' irresponsible economic policies, Biden’s energy-killing executive orders are already negatively impacting Colorado. Colorado lost 9,000 jobs in the oil and natural gas industry this past year, and economists project that 201,144 jobs will be lost if we keep President Biden’s anti-energy executive orders in place for 20 years. By the end of his first term, Colorado will lose 16,000 jobs if Congress doesn’t stand up and put a halt to these disastrous policies by passing my Protecting American Energy Jobs Act.

FIGHTING THROUGH THE PARTISAN DIVIDE

Rep. Jayapal abused the formal ethics investigation process to advance false, politically motivated attacks against several Republican members of the House, including myself. After considering the clear evidence, the House Committee on Ethics ruled that her complaints were baseless.

Rep. Jayapal wasted taxpayer money on her ridiculous ethics complaints, rehashing leftist media talking points which contained no facts. Entrenched swamp creatures are wasting time and federal resources on partisan crusades against me because I am shaking things up in Congress and getting things done for the American people.
