A Message from Mayor Cantrell
------------------------------------------------------------

,

Later this year, I will be asking for your vote to re-elect me as Mayor of our great city. Before the campaign season gets underway in earnest, it's important to step back to see how far we've come. We've made so much progress together over the past three years, from securing our fair share of tax revenue to carrying out numerous much-needed road repairs to coming together to overcome a historic pandemic.

I'm proud of what we've accomplished as a city. Now, we must tackle the public safety concerns which have been inflamed by the stress and upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic. By focusing on prevention, apprehension, and intervention, we will get violent crime under control in our city. As we move past the COVID-19 pandemic we cannot pass up the unique opportunity to build a thriving economy that will dignify the work of all New Orleanians. This is our chance to close the pay gap in our city and to guarantee a prosperous economy for future generations. And of course, we cannot stop our momentum on repairing and modernizing our infrastructure.

Friends, I'm looking forward to the campaign ahead and for the opportunity to share more about my vision for the future of the city we all love. I hope you'll join me on this journey.

Dismissing Old Cases ([link removed]) : Mayor Cantrell's administration has partnered with Municipal and Traffic Court to dismiss over 400,000 old cases that involved non-violent offenses. These cases, 95% of which were traffic cases, prevented many New Orleans residents from accessing job opportunities. The dismissal of these cases clears the way for more New Orleanians to pursue opportunities. Read more here ([link removed]) .
