Hi Friend,
Today, Republicans blocked the For the People Act from moving forward in the U.S. Senate. This is one more Republican attack on our communities, our right to vote, and our democracy. But the fight for voting rights is far from over.
All spring long, Republicans in Texas and around the country have been trying to slash voting rights any way they can -- especially for voters of color. And you don’t have to read between the lines to see why. Republicans know that their days in power are numbered. So they’re trying to cling to power the only way they can: by trying to stop us from voting.
Friend, in the face of those attacks, Democrats have been fighting tooth and nail to protect our right to vote -- from the Texas lawmakers who staged a historic walkout to block SB 7, to the Democrats in Congress who have championed the For the People Act. But now that this voting rights legislation has been blocked, we’re going to have to fight even harder.
Texas Democrats have a plan to help more Texans get to the ballot box and make their voices heard. It’s called Project Texas, and it’s our strategy to register 2 million new Texas Democratic voters by the 2022 election. But if we’re going to meet that goal, we need to move full speed ahead, right now. Will you rush $7 to our Voter Registration Fund?

We can defeat Republicans, and make sure their attacks on our democracy never see the light of day again. But we have to stand strong and united.
Thank you for showing up today.
