Dear John,
Colorado Governor Jared Polis took decisive action on Saturday, signing a historic set of gun violence prevention legislation into law to keep Colorado families, communities, and localities safe from gun violence.
Colorado has far too often seen the deadly effects of America’s gun violence epidemic. In addition to recent high-profile mass shootings in Boulder and Colorado Springs, two Coloradoans die everyday due to gun violence. Colorado also suffers from one of the highest gun suicide rates in the nation and Coloradoans continue to confront daily community gun violence that rarely breaks through the news cycle.
The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence is proud of our collaboration with Colorado Ceasefire through our Safer States Initiative to advocate for the passage of this historic legislation. The bills signed into law in Colorado are the type of action that CSGV is working to catalyze in states across the country.
Colorado lawmakers and local advocates turned grief into change and put laws in place that will save lives:
With gun violence prevention legislation stalled in Washington, it is time for organizations and activists to roll up our sleeves and address the gun violence epidemic at the state level.
Our Safer States Initiative equips gun violence prevention leaders in states and communities across the country with the financial resources, policy expertise and capacity they need to create change. This initiative puts resources directly into the hands of local leaders who can assist those most impacted by gun violence in their communities.
We are committed to building partnerships and investing in our local gun violence prevention community groups across the nation. That is what drives real change.
We helped effect change in Colorado. Now help us bring these types of gun violence prevention victories to your community.
Please help us invest in gun violence prevention at the state and local level by making a gift to support the Safer States Initiative today! Your gift will help bring lasting change and build a safer, more equitable United States of America.
Sincerely,
Josh Horwitz Executive Director |
