Team, I have some good news!
Yesterday, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of college athletes, paving the way for them to finally share in the obscene profits generated off their labor by the NCAA while offering little in return.
As a former Division-I athlete, I know just how broken the current system is. That’s why I’ve been working hard to ensure college athletes can reap the rewards of their hard work, just like everyone else.
A few months ago, I introduced legislation to protect the rights of athletes to be compensated for the use of their name, image, and likeness – and yesterday’s decision means that’s even closer to becoming reality.
But we can't stop now.
It’s long past time that the NCAA treated athletes with the dignity they deserve, but if I’ve learned anything from this movement, it’s that we need to be relentless in this push. Will you chip in now so we can keep up the pressure?
Together, we’ll return the power in college athletics to where it belongs – with the athletes who sacrifice so much and practice day in and day out.
Thank you for your support,
Lori Trahan
