Hi John,
There’s something so
special about celebrating the courage of people who step up to Run for Something --
any one of us can make a real difference in our communities.
This week’s podcast guest,
North Carolina State Representative Ricky Hurtado, is a perfect example of an everyday person doing something
extraordinary.
Ricky’s story is like so many others in this country: He’s the child of immigrants and a first-generation college student who chose to give back by working in education. Here’s what makes Ricky remarkable: After seeing that his students and community had no voice to advocate for them in government, he decided to run for office.
That’s when Ricky made history by becoming the first Latinx leader in the North Carolina state House. His campaign made
a lot of news over the last year. Listen in to understand the story behind the headlines.
