John,

It's Pride Month, the nation's moment to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, the progress we've made towards equality, and to acknowledge the sacrifices of so many leaders and activists who got us to this point.

I'm proud to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and I'm supportive of and inspired by the LGBT Network here in Suffolk County.

But I think it's important we acknowledge how much further we have to go, John. Across the nation, anti-LGBTQ+ elected officials have been misusing the powers of their office to attack the LGBTQ+ community, especially transgender youth.

It's as bad as it's ever been. Since the start of 2021 more than 250 anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced in state legislatures -- making it a record year for LGBTQ+ discriminatory legislation.

Thankfully, there's a clear path to thwarting their efforts: The Senate can finally pass the Equality Act and make discrimination on the basis of gender identity, sexual orientation, and gender a crime.

Join me today in reminding the Senate of their duty to protect and serve all Americans, especially those who face hate and ignorance in their day-to-day lives. Will you sign our petition demanding the passage of the Equality Act? Thank you -- happy Pride Month, John.
